Should I talk to ChatGPT?

As someone who works in tech and coaching, I get this question a lot: “What’s the difference between talking to a life coach vs. chatting with ChatGPT?”

Here’s the way I’ve come to understand it:

  • ChatGPT helps you think better within your current perspective. A coach helps you see beyond your current perspective.
  • ChatGPT is fast, clear, and frictionless. Coaching is slower, sometimes uncomfortable — but that’s often where real change happens.
  • ChatGPT gives you answers. A coach stays with you until you find the real question.
  • And maybe the biggest difference: ChatGPT is a tool. Coaching is a relationship.

But here’s the thing: Coaching is hard to understand until you actually experience it.

It’s not advice. It’s not problem-solving. It’s a space where someone listens, reflects, and challenges you in a way that helps you uncover your own patterns, and move forward differently.
